Track first, second and third infusions with individual timings for herbs that re-steep beautifully.
Many herbal teas reveal different characters across multiple infusions. The first steep might be bright and aromatic; the second, mellower and sweeter. This timer tracks each infusion separately, with the right time for each round.
Select your herb, start the first infusion, and the timer guides you through each subsequent steep with adjusted times. A running log shows you which infusion you're on and what's changed between them.
The concept of re-steeping and which herbs suit it is explored in our Herbal Tea Brewing Basics guide. For a look at the variety of multi-infusion botanicals, the Herbal Tea Ingredients Guide profiles what each herb gives across rounds.
A brief tasting note accompanies each infusion round, describing the character you are likely to notice as the herb evolves across steeps. These notes are drawn from the same tasting vocabulary used across our guides, so if you are keeping a journal entry alongside your brewing session, you have ready-made language to work with.
Rooibos, chamomile, lemongrass, peppermint and tulsi all re-steep with pleasing results. Roots like ginger also perform well across two or three rounds. Very delicate florals are generally best as a single infusion.
Typically longer — the herb has already given its first flush of easy-to-extract flavour, so subsequent steeps need more time to draw out what remains. The timer adjusts for this automatically.
Most herbal teas give two pleasurable infusions; some, like rooibos, can stretch to three. Beyond three, the flavour usually becomes too dilute to be enjoyable. The tool indicates when it recommends stopping.
Yes — just stop after the first infusion. The multi-infusion feature is optional; the tool works as a standard single-steep timer if that's all you need.
